THE National Sports Commission (NSC) has organised a three-day cycle racing workshop for teachers and interested persons from the Region 7, (Bartica) community.The activity which will be conducted by National cycle coach Hassan Mohamed will commence at 13:00hrs today at the Bartica Community Centre and will run until Thursday.
According to Mohamed, the rules of competitive cycling and organising cycle races will be the primary focus of the workshop.
Mohamed, the senior coach at the NSC said it is the intention of his ministry to go to all 10 regions of Guyana and conduct outreach programmes.
Just last week, the Ministry of Education’s Department of Sport, in collaboration with the NSC, held a similar workshop that benefited teachers from 15 primary and secondary schools in Region 7.
The three-day workshop was conducted by cricket coaches Latchman Radram and Daniel Richmond.
At the end of the cycle workshop, the teachers and others who benefited from it will be charged with the responsibility of passing on their knowledge to students and other interested persons in the region.
