NSC, Banks DIH support ‘A’ Division Commander Inter-youth group Track and Field Classic

THE National Sports Commission (NSC) and Banks DIH under their Rainforest Waters brand yesterday announced their alliance with the ‘A’ Division Commander Inter-youth group Track and Field Classic at the Police Sports Club ground, Eve Leary. The field events will be held at the Guyana Teachers’ Union (GTU) ground on Saturday, October 17, commencing from 10:00hrs while the following day, from 09:30hrs, the track events will take place at the Eve Leary Sports ground.
Christopher Jones, Director of Sport handed over the sponsorship cheque to Commander ‘A’ Division Clifton Hicken, in the presence of Errol Nelson, Brand Manager of Rainforest Waters.
The winning group will receive $100 000, which will go towards a community project of their choice, and the second-place team will pocket $65 000 and third- placers $40 000.
Banks DIH will be providing refreshment for the officials and athletes over the two-day period.
Assistant Commissioner Hicken reiterated his division’s commitment to foster better community relationships between members of the public and the Guyana Police Force.
According to the Director of Sport, the NSC is pleased to support such ventures and applauded the organisers for such initiatives especially within the communities often categorised as “depressed”.
