Cuban born resident of Mexico Jose Napoles needed only one round to get rid of Guyanese Lennox Beckles when they met on December 22, 1968 in Mexico.Beckles was no match for his more seasoned opponent and was knocked out in the first round.

Napoles would win the World Boxing Association and the World Boxing Council welterweight titles the following year.
Beckles brought his 19-year professional career to a close in May 1979 when he lost a 10 round fight against Brian Muller by points.
He has secured 33 victories, 13 defeats and two draws. Terrence Alli is arguably the finest boxer produced by Guyana although being unsuccessful three times while attempting to claim a world title .Alli ducked no one and dazzled opponents with speed and ring craft.
Philippa Martin witnessed the dazzling display at the Auburn Hill in Michigan on December 22, 1989. Martin was disqualified in the sixth round of a bout scheduled for 10 rounds against the Guyanese.
The win allowed Allis to keep a clean slate in 1989 having won all four fights that year.
