Health Minister, Dr George Norton has called out PPP/C Member of Parliament, Joseph Hamilton for reportedly misleading the public regarding the availability of HIV Test Kits. During his contributions to the budget debate on Monday, Hamilton stated that there is currently a countrywide shortage of HIV Test kits. However, the Minister debunked the claims. “I wish to make it known that there is currently a supply of 35,000 HIV Test kits at the Materials Management Bond in Diamond, East Bank Demerara. As such, there is no shortage of HIV Test Kits Guyana,” Norton said. He however, there is an existing problem whereby personnel from various health facilities are not uplifting these kits in a timely manner.
