A SELF-confessed ganja farmer of Monkey Mountain was yesterday sentenced to three years imprisonment along with a $30,000 fine, after he pleaded guilty to the possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking before Magistrate Ann McLennan.Clifford Nathaniel, 25, was charged with having 18 grammes of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking at the Monkey Mountain Police Station.
According to the facts, Nathaniel was arrested on the charge of disorderly behaviour when a party of ranks went to his house on the said report and conducted a mandatory search and he was taken to the Monkey Mountain Police Station.
The search unearthed the said drugs which he had concealed in his left back pocket and was weighed in his presence.
Nathaniel, when given the chance to address the court, told the magistrate that, indeed, he was the owner of the marijuana and that this was his first time planting it to bring him some money.
