Representatives from the Guyana Responsible Parenthood Association (GRPA) also graced the initiative, to promote better lifestyles and healthier bodies.

In an interview with the Guyana Chronicle, Dr Shanique Greaves of the GRPA said the fair was the church’s effort to create in the general public an awareness of common health issues, and this effort was facilitated by the Ministry’s staffers, who were available to offer free blood sugar and hypertension testing, as well as vaccinations for measles, yellow fever, tetanus, rubella and mumps.

Dr. Greaves said the Ministry of Public Health supplied the fair with the required machines, equipment and resources to make the event possible. She urged that, because of our busy lifestyles, we need to get ourselves checked to ensure healthy minds and bodies.

Many persons from in and around the community assembled at the church to take advantage of the initiative. Free eye testing and dental care were also given; and there was a special section which facilitated persons speaking with doctors about health problems they were experiencing.
