Medicinal ganja gets farmer community service, fine

A FARMER was yesterday fined $3,000 and sentenced to six months’ community service for possession of marijuana when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.Samuel DaSuza was convicted of having in his possession five grams of marijuana on April 21 at Victory Valley, Linden. However the farmer told the magistrate that he uses the marijuana for medicinal purposes.

The man is scheduled to report to the Wismar Police Station to commence his six months of community service.
