A MECHANIC was yesterday placed on $125,000 bail by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry after answering to a wounding charge. Claude Couchman, 27, of Lot 442 Caneville Grove, East Bank Demerara, pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him.
Details of the matter alleged that on Sunday, May 25 at Winipuru Backdam, Konawaruk River, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Roger Gonsalves, with intent to maim disfigure or cause him harm.
The prosecution’s facts against the unrepresented man were not revealed to the court and no objection was raised by the prosecution for bail.
Subsequently, statements were ordered to be filed and the matter was transferred to Mahdia Magistrate’s Court for July 13.
