McKinnon, Lewis emerge as senior, junior champions

RYAN McKinnon and Joseph Lewis emerged as the senior and junior champions of the John Lewis Styles-sponsored Guyana National Rifle Association (GuyanaNRA) Small Bore Section/Independence Action Pistol Shoot which was held last Sunday at the Timehri Rifle Ranges.McKinnon tallied 131 points to win ahead of Ray Beharry (119), Mohamed Qualander (117), Gordon Richards (109) and Vidushi Persaud who brought up the rear on 88 points.
In the junior category, Joseph Lewis accumulated 94 points to defeat the sponsor John Lewis who got 52 points. Third was Totaram Bishundat with 47 points while 5th place went to Gordon Pearson who mustered 38 points.
The event consisted of three stages of timed shoots with limited ammunition where shooters engaged targets with speed and accuracy before the time limit expired. Two stages consisted of the use of the 9mm pistols only, while one stage included the combination of a 9mm carbine rifle and a 9mm pistol.
Meanwhile, on Saturday May 21, a .22 Precision Pistol Match was held at the Tactical Services Range, Eve Leary where Joshua Ramlakan was the top senior with Gordon Pearson winning among the juniors.
Ramlakan had 293 points and 12 Vs winning comfortably from Delmar Rogers (277/8) and Raval Seojattan one point back with one more V.
Pearson’s winning total was 270/6, Shevon Duguid was second (251/3) with Simeon Kissoon (224/2) third.
