THE 22nd annual Mayor’s Cup football tournament will continue today with a double- header slated for the Victoria ground, East Coast Demerara, beginning at 18:30hrs.In the opening game, BV/Triumph will face Mahaica, while the feature match brings together Golden Grove and Cougars from 20:30hrs.
To date, after two days of competition in the tournament that has been affected by the inclement weather, Grove Hi-Tech, Victoria kings, Pouderoyen and den Amstel have all registered victories and progressed to the next round which is the quarter- finals.
A double- header was also slated for yesterday at the Den Amstel ground.
The winning team will receive $700,000 and the Aruwai Resort trophy, while the second place team will receive $300,000 and the Ansa McAl trophy.
The team finishing third will earn $200,000 and the John Fernandes trophy, while the3 fourth place team will receive $100,000 and the Ministry of State trophy.
Hampers will also be given to the top two teams, compliments of Ricks and sari Limited.
The top goal scorer in the competition will receive a three-piece suite, compliments of A.H &L. Kissoon Furniture Store.
