ONE of Guyana’s top local racers Mark Vieira is currently fifth in the point standings after two rounds of the Suzuki Challenge Series SR3 Cup at the Bushy Park raceway in Barbados.Vieira has accumulated 75 points as the Maloney brothers dominated at home and currently command the points table.
Stuart Maloney is on top with 120 points with siblings Sean and Mark in second and third on 108 and 96 points, respectively.
Ryan Gonsalves racing out of St Vincent and the Grenadines is tied with Vieira on points but holds the advantage with a ‘-21 Gap’ difference.
Rounding out the table are Barbadians David Simpson, Allan Kinch and Barry Gale, and Jim Parr of the US, in that order.
After the third race of the second round Vieira said, starting at the back of the grid was a bit difficult but he got a reasonable start.
Commenting on the blunder which cost him a podium finish he stated, “We were fighting for second coming down into the bowl but I got a little ambitious, touched Mark and I spun. But all-in-all I thought the race was very competitive and I enjoyed it a lot.”
