Marian Academy, St Rose’s’ win big … YBG games continue

THE Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) National Schools basketball festival, Georgetown & East Coast Regionals continued last Saturday with three matches played in the U-14, U-16 and U-19 categories collectively. In the first match of the day, Queen’s College fell to neighbouring Marian Academy 29-9. Corey Graham had 8 points and 8 rebounds and was supported by Tyrese James who added 4 points, 6 rebounds and Duard Lewis who added 6 points for the Marian side.
Lugard Mohan had 6 points and 2 rebounds for Queen’s College.
In the U-16 St Rose’s High steam-rolled St Stanislaus College in a game which finished 67-6. Anthony Yansen had a game-high 25 points, 6 rebounds and 6 steals, Atilla Williamson had 11 points and Kwesi Roberts turned in 9 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals for St Rose’s. Gordon Trotman had 4 points and 6 rebounds for Saints.
In the Under-19s, President’s College got past Marian Academy 61-54. Kadeem Peterkin and Jahleel Duke had 26 and 19 points respectively for President’s College. Jordon Alphonso had 24 points while Judah Stephney had 14 points and 16 rebounds for Marian Academy.
Another round of matches will be played today.
