JERMAINE Joseph on Monday appeared before New Amsterdam Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus, charged with assault causing actual bodily harm after he had allegedly inflicted several bites about the body of his lover’s one-year-plus daughter.Particulars of the charge detailed that on August 5, at Line Path, Coriverton Corentyne, the defendant assaulted Shamiza Khabux so as to cause her actual bodily harm.

Police Sergeant Phillip Sherrif, prosecuting, disclosed that, on the day in question, the defendant carried out his routine habit of cuffing and slapping the toddler.

The defendant and the child’s mother, Seema Gray, allegedly shared an abusive relationship; and the defendant told his lover that the child’s father ‘wuk on he’, as he was not seeing his way.
