Man charged with murder in gunning down of Sanasie

A MAN accused of slaying the popular businessman’s wife, Patricia Sanasie, was yesterday brought before the court and slapped with the capital offence of murder. Richard Stanton, 34, of Princes Street, Lodge, Georgetown, is accused of pumping four bullets into the body of Sanasie, thereby causing her death on January 12 at Atlantic Gardens. The accused was not required to plead to the indictable charge.
Stanton will make his next court appearance at Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court on May 4, after the matter was transferred by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
It was reported that on the night of the incident, the woman along with her daughter had returned home from church, when the deceased left the car to open the gate. This was when the lone gunman confronted her and fired at least four shots into her body.
After several months of investigations, the police have finally received enough evidence against the accused to charge him with this offence.
