A THIRTY-EIGHT-YEAR-OLD man of Lot 48 Princes Street, Wortmanville, Georgetown, who was charged with threatening to kill his brother was Tuesday placed on $20,000 bail by Magistrate Ann McLennan. Brian Matason pleaded not guilty to the charge, particulars of which said on Wednesday, April 9 at Princes Street, he made use of threatening language to Mark Matason whereby a breach of the peace may be occasioned.
The unrepresented defendant told the court that he is a teacher at Campbellville Secondary School and listed a number of subjects which he teaches.
However, Police Corporal Dinero Jones, prosecuting, indicated to the court that he was informed by the investigating rank (IR) that the defendant is not a teacher.
He said this information was confirmed from the school and also he noted that both brothers live at the same address.
The prosecutor did not object to bail and he was bonded to keep the peace pending the determination of the matter. The case was transferred before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry for May 15.
