Main political contenders still to unveil manifestos

WITH excerpts of Guyana 2.0 – the vision of the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) – made public, the main political contenders have still to disclose the contents of their manifestos, in its entirety, to the Guyanese people.General Secretary of the PPP, Clement Rohee, in an invited comment yesterday, disclosed that the ruling party will be unveiling its plan soon.
“It will be done soon,” he said, declining to commit to a date.
Guyana 2.0 is a play on the ‘tech’ term that translates to mean an upgrade – in this case a better country for the Guyanese people.
As such, the central themes of ‘Guyana 2.0’ include: Economic Growth: Jobs, Income & Wealth Creation; Transformative Infrastructure; Enhancing the Well-Being of Our People; Fighting Crimes & Protecting Our People; Fair Governance; and Guyana in a Modern World. The preview of the PPP/C manifesto details a vast number of policies and measures that are centered on these themes, which will be pursued.
Meanwhile, Communications Officer attached with the alliance of A Partnership for National Unity and the Alliance For Change (APNU+AFC), Imran Khan, told the Chronicle that the party will disclose details of its vision for the next five years this week.
Manifestos are the plans of political parties vying for leadership posts, which outline programmes, policies and legislative advances expected to be advanced over five years – the term of office after a General and Regional election. (Vanessa Narine)
