STAFF members of the Machinery Corporation of Guyana Limited (MACORP) recently donated a total of 36 units of blood to the National Blood Bank. The donation took place through a voluntary blood drive which was conducted at MACORP, and was coordinated by the company’s Human Resources Department and the National Blood Bank.
Occupational Health and Safety Officer of Macorp, Mr. Richard Coddett, indicated that the blood drive is part of Macorp’s Health and Wellness programme.He noted that the company has recognised the importance of blood-donation and as such the employees were eager to respond to the national need.
Dr. Julian Amsterdam, Director (Ag) of the Blood Bank, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the company and its employees and said the National Blood Bank looks forward to similar collaboration, as they work together to help save lives.
