THE Machinery Corporation of Guyana Limited (MACORP) yesterday hosted a graduation ceremony for 19 trainees of the company’s excavator operator training programme at its Providence, East Bank Demerara location.Having attended a seven-week training programme, the trainees would have learnt about excavator operator safety requirements, identify excavator components, use the simulator for control familiarisation, carry out recommended maintenance procedures, and demonstrate basic operation techniques.

This batch means that a total of 700 trainees would have graduated from that particular programme, which started in 2008 with the aim of equipping technicians and operators with skills to service and operate Caterpillar equipment and machinery, while creating a future for young Guyanese.

Best Graduating Trainee was Colin Gray; second was Kevlon Mc Donald. The two top trainees were awarded for their outstanding performances.

MACORP continues to play a pivotal role in the country’s development, contributing directly with technical support and supply of equipment to related sectors –- mining, agriculture, road construction, basic industry, marine, forestry, and electrical power generation. MACORP has established branches at Bartica and Port Kaituma, but its head office is located at Providence on the East Bank of Demerara.

Machinery Corporation of Guyana Limited (MACORP) is the only authorised Caterpillar dealer in Guyana, and has been operating for over 20 years, leading Guyana’s development and fuelling the success of stakeholders by directly providing integral equipment and integrated solutions.
