Lens Craft Optical/EBFA U-13 League resumes today at Mocha ground

COMPETITIVE football is set to make a grand return to the Mocha Community ground today when the inaugural Lens Craft Optical/East Bank Football Association (EBFA) Under-13 league resumes following a period of inactivity due to the prolonged rainy season.Today’s double-header will see points leaders Grove Hi Tech, joint leaders on 9 points with Herstelling Raiders but ahead on goal difference, play the feature game against host team Mocha Champs who are on 4 points.
Opening play at 10:00hrs brings together Agricola Red Triangle on 6 points against Kuru Kururu Warriors lagging in the penultimate position on the table with a single point.
Agricola would be led by the competition’s leading goalscorer to date, Leon Moore, who has six goals (two hat-tricks), one more than Herstelling’s Shoran James. Lending support would be Shamar Morrison, Kerwayne Lyte and Kareem John. For the Warriors, Kevon Scott and Oric Austin will lead their charge for a win.
Grove Hi Tech will bank on the likes of their leading scorer to date, Akeem Williams with 3, Devon Padmore, Rasheed Evans and Jamallo Benjamin to deliver three more points to their title bid while Mocha will bank on Ian Mars and home advantage to turn back the challenge of Grove.
The executive of the EBFA wishes to express gratitude to NDC Chairman Mr Gregory John for giving the go-ahead for matches to be played at the Mocha ground. It is almost 15 years since competitive football has been played at this venue due to varying reasons including lack of funds to maintain same.
The start of this league will also signal a busy period for the EBFA which intends to start its senior league among a number of other tournaments, shortly.
The association’s affiliates are also expected to convene shortly to review and adopt the new constitution that has been circulated to the affiliates of the Guyana Football Federation by the Normalisation Committee.
