DEANDRE Kirk of Lot 34 Owen Street, Kitty, Georgetown, was yesterday refused bail by Chief Magistrate, Priya Sewnarine-Beharry after pleading not guilty to two counts of robbery with personal violence.The 23-year-old labourer is accused of robbing Sheeba Vishnu of a gold chain valued $55,000 and a gold ring $167000, while he was in the company of another on March 29 at Water Street, Georgetown. It is alleged that at the time of, before or immediately after he used personal violence against her.
It is also alleged that on the said day, March 29, at Water Street, he also robbed Bishoo of $53,000 in cash and also used personal violence against her.
The unrepresented man was denied pre-trial liberty on the grounds of the nature and penalty for the offences and the matter was transferred before Magistrate Fabayo Azore for May 6.
