K&S take GTTA Inter-corporation team title

THE Kashif and Shanghai Organisation (K&S) easily walked away with the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA)-organised Inter-corporation team title when they defeated Guyana Fire Service (GFS) 3-0 at the National Gymnasium yesterday morning.
Steven Barrow and Raynor Anderson made up the K&S team who resisted the GFS team of Quincy Rice and Warren Hacksaw’s attempt to put out their fire that was burning red hot throughout the competition.

In a show of sportsmanship, the teams representing NP Electronics (Michael Vieira, Ryan Baldeo and Andre Lopes) and Officer Mess ‘A’ (Gary Pratt, Patrick Triumph and Commissioner of Police and president of the GTTA Henry Greene) opted to share the third place title.
All the teams from last weekend were divided into six groups with the winner and runner-up in each group going through to the knock-out round of 16 and the third- and fourth-placed team in each of the groups playing for 9th to 16th consolation places.
Results from last weekend’s competition are as follows:
In Group One, K&S defeated Banks DIH (Kumarraj Thakur and Michael Benjamin) 3-0 and Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) made up of Gavin Low, Irvin Dey, Mark Persaud and Reishad Khan, 3-0, while Banks DIH defeated GRA 3-0.
In Group Two, Police Officers Mess ‘A’ defeated Wartsila (Aaron Fraser, Neil Barry and Xavier Collymore) 3-0 and General Industry and Safety Supplies Enterprise ‘B’ (Benjamin Singh, Yadram Rajkumar and Sammy Budhu) 3-0 while Wartsila defeated the later 3-0.
In Group Three, GT&T ‘B’ (Ron Devonish, Bryan Yarris and Dexter Wyles) defeated Blue Thunder (Vernon Rodrigues and Timothy Cummings) 3-2 and Bank of Guyana (Imran Khan, Carlyne Bowen and Leonard Butcher) 3-0 while Blue Thunder defeated the Bank 3-1.
In Group Four, Grace Kennedy (Lisa Lewis, Ishaka Jackman and Pernel Cummings) defeated General Industry and Safety Supplies Enterprise ‘A’ (Balkisson, Ashraf Alli, Emran Ressack and Joseph Benjamin) 3-0 and Guysuco ‘A’ (Rishi Sookram and Pradeep Balram).
In Group Five, NP Electronics (Michael Vieira, Xen Goliah, Andre Lopes and Ryan Basdeo) defeated Officers Mess ‘B’ (Remy Taitt and Bruce Murray) 3-1, GT&T ‘A’ (Wayne St Jules, Errol Farley and Kevin Grant) 3-0 and Chinese Embassy (Fan Yingjie, Tu Wei, Wang Defa and Gu Yuhua) 3-0.
Officers Mess ‘B’ also defeated GT&T ‘A’ 3-0 and Chinese Embassy 3-0, while GT&T ‘A’ defeated Chinese Embassy 3-0.
In Group Six, GFS defeated Guysuco ‘B’ (Floyd Conway, Desiree Lancaster and Brentol Richards) 3-1, Laparkan (Mooniram Persaud, Sahadeo Ramkiratth and Christopher Sahadeo) 3-2 and Guyana Police Force (Colin Boyce, Clifton Hickens and Patrick Peters) 3-0.
Guysuco ‘B’ later defeated Laparkan 3-1 and Police Force 3-0, while Laparkan defeated Police 3-0.
