Radio personality Nuriyyih Gerard (centre) was, on Friday night, crowned Miss World Guyana 2016. Treasure James (right) gained the First Princess position while Najuma Nelson (left) gained Second Princess position.Gerard is the swashbuckling radio jockey who gets people out of bed and keeps them entertained on 94.1 Boom FM for a full three hours on the ‘Jump Start’ show. During the pageant, she represented Region Eight, Potaro/Siparuni.
The two-hour-long pageant, hosted at Rahaman’s Park at Houston, East Bank Demerara, featured seven beautiful ladies who represented seven of the ten administrative regions.
The Final set of points were awarded for the Evening Gown segment, after which all the scores were tallied to choose a winner. Nuriyyih was among the crowd favourites in the pageant, and also won the talent competition with her original song ‘Hope’. (Photo by Adrian Narine)
