In chartering a green economy and a more sustainable Iwokrama, Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo today met with Chairman of Iwokrama, Rajendra Pachauri, who is also Director General of the Energy and Resources Institute of India, to discuss mutual interests of concerns.
The courtesy call, which occurred at the Office of the Prime Minister, surrounded discussion pertaining to Guyana moving towards a green economy.
“I know Guyana is generating a lot of power from hydrocarbon resources and that is certainly not something that is going to happen in the future so we need to bring about a shift in a more efficient use of energy and much greater use of renewables and making modern energy accessible to those who may not have access to it today,” the Iwokrama Chairman said.
Prime Minister Nagamootoo said Guyana has an abundance of marvel in the natural resource sector but financial assistance is needed to promote a greater energy sector and life for Guyanese through various partnerships.
