Indian national fatally stabbed in the neck

AN Indian national, who has been working at the Dr. Balwant Singh Hospital as a nurse for some time now, was on Wednesday night stabbed in the neck by persons whom the police are still to identify.

James Peter, 31, was rushed to the hospital where he has been providing medical services during his stint in Guyana, but died while receiving treatment.
A police press release related that the man, who resides on Camp Street here in the city, was stabbed while on the seawall on Wednesday night; he died early yesterday morning.
The Guyana Chronicle was able to confirm that the man has no biological relatives in this country and was providing medical services to the Balwant Singh Hospital along with several other nationals from his native land.
The man is said to have a girlfriend who works at another private medical institution. Yesterday, this publication was informed that the police were looking to have the Indian High Commission here in Guyana briefed about the incident, which is reportedly also engaging the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
Meanwhile, the police are seeking to have persons come forward with information surrounding the incident and give statements and possibly identify the person(s) responsible for inflicting the fatal wound on the non-national.
