AS GUYANA prepare to tackle Canada tonight at the BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston, Texas, Director of Sport Christopher Jones has conveyed a message of ‘good luck’ to the Lady Jags on behalf of the people and Government of Guyana.Eyeing a spot at the Olympic Games in Brazil later this year, Guyana will have to get out of Group ‘B’ of the CONCACAF Olympic Qualifier tournament where they are placed alongside (apart from Canada) Trinidad and Guatemala.
“As the Lady Jags continue to fly the Golden Arrowhead high and proud for and on behalf the Government and people of Guyana, we at home will be cheering them on to success as they roar in Houston, Texas” Jones said in his message to the team.
The Director of Sport further added that today’s game is in the team’s continued quest for success to put Guyana on football’s world stage. “We are confident that this objective will be achieved. In this the year of our ‘Golden Jubilee’, keep on roaring Lady Jags!”
Guyana will next play Trinidad and Tobago on February 14 and Guatemala two days later. (Rawle Toney)
