HOPETOWN Primary emerged as champions of the West Berbice Zone when they defeated Number 5 Primary in the final of the 2015 Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Scotiabank Kiddy Progression One Cricket. At the Bush Lot ground, Hopetown Primary won the toss and gave Number 5 Primary first strike as they racked up 115/5. Sayeed Khan top-scored with 30, being supported by Tyrone Delph who chipped in with 20. Hopetown’s Avinde Rogers turned in figures of 2-3.
In the Hopetown reply, Rogers returned with the bat to lead the successful chase as they rallied to 117-7. Number 5 Primary tried their best to defend a tricky target, taking the game down to the final over, but Hopetown eventually prevailed.
The action continues tomorrow when Timehri Primary clash with Camille Primary at the Banks DIH Ground, Thirst Park.
The winner will face St. Ann’s in the final of the East Bank District which is slated for Friday, November 27 at the same venue.
