GVF donates balls, net to Buxton Youth Developers

THE Guyana Volleyball Federation (GVF) continued its drive to expand the game throughout Guyana and kept good its promise to the village of Buxton, handing over a quantity of volleyballs and a net to the Buxton Youth Developers School. At a small presentation ceremony on Tuesday at the Buxton Youth Developers School, GVF president John Flores was excited by the prospect of what can happen as a result of this initiative by his federation.
He pointed out the realistic possibility of the sport developing within the community to the point that the community can field senior and junior teams at local competitions and he expects that youths especially will benefit from the donation.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the institution, Robin Phillips was also noticeably elated by the donation of balls and a net which will replace the old equipment currently in use by the 94 children at the institution.
Phillips explained that the boys and girls ranging from 6 to 18 years old will begin to benefit from the donation as early as of today.
The GVF intends to continue its expansion drive but is yet to announce its next stop as they now have to give significant attention to the remaining events on its calendar for 2015.
A premier league for males and females, elite teams and the Tradewind Tankers International tournament are scheduled for October and November respectively.
