Guyanese teen commits suicide in Suriname

RAYHAM, a 17-year-old Guyanese lad from the Region Two Pomeroon River community, has reportedly committed suicide by hanging in Suriname.

An aunt, “Patsy” of West Bury on the Essequibo Coast in Region Two, told this publication that she received a phone call from another relative yesterday morning, informing her of the tragic death of the lad in Suriname.

Patsy said the lad had once lived in a community along the Linden highway before he migrated to Suriname to work; and his relatives in Guyana are in shock at his demise, and are wondering why he had chosen to end his life by suicide.

Patsy said she doesn’t know where in Suriname the late Rayham had been working and living.
