Guyanese attorney admitted to Bar in Fiji

REGINALD Anthony Harper, son of former Guyana and West Indies cricketer, Roger Harper and Mrs. Sheran Harper, was last Friday admitted to the Rolls of the High Court of the Sovereign Republic of Fiji.Formally admitting Mr. Harper to the Bar was Mr. Harold O’Driscoll, a seasoned barrister and solicitor with whom Harper has had the honour of interning since passing his Bar exams, a press release stated.
Chief Justice Anthony Harold Cumberland Gates welcomed Harper to the Bar and charged him to create his mark and to give back to society. Meanwhile, the Chief Justice also urged Harper to take up some legal aid cases with the firm to which he was attached, as a means of providing access to justice for those who may not have the means to do so. The Chief Justice admonished Harper as well to strive for excellence and to represent his clients well.
Highly motivated, driven and focused, Mr. Harper is committed to making his mark in the legal fraternity and community development.
Prior to being admitted to the University of Fiji where he completed his Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice, Harper attended the University of Guyana where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB). He subsequently proceeded to do his Bar Exams within the Commonwealth jurisdiction in the Republic of Fiji.
An ardent sports enthusiast, Harper actively participates in sporting activities and is a member of the Stringers Hockey Club in Suva, Fiji. He is also a member of Hikers Hockey Club in Guyana.
Attorney-at-Law Harper is the second of two sons of Roger and Sheran. Mrs Harper is a Central Trustee and the Worldwide Parenting Programme Trainer for International Mothers’ Union.
