Guyana’s Table Tennis Team which participated at the recently concluded United Sates Open Team Table Tennis Championships in Maryland struck gold The tournament, which featured action from November 26 to 30 took place at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Centre in Maryland, USA, saw the Guyanese pick up 3 Gold Medals and 2 Bronze Medals.
The team represented the nucleus of Guyana’s table tennis talents and the next generation of future champions with players straddling from eight-years to the senior levels.
The U.S. Open Team Table Tennis Championships, one of the biggest team championships in the world, embraced over 200 teams and 1000 participating players from all over the world.
The format of the competition/ championships offers a wide variety of players.
The Tournament exposed participating players to both higher and lower ranked players with an extensive amount of matches.
Team Guyana featured Tyriq Saunders, Neveak Clarkston, Thuraia Thomas, Aneka Philips, Delecia Cummings, Yuedistir Persaud, Navindra Persaud, Niron Bissu, Krystan Sahadeo, Colin Wong, Miguel Wong, Alec Hopkinson, Nigel Bray, Joel Alleyne, Nicholas Roamin, Brandon Jaikarran, Orlando Mc Ewen, Raynor Anderson, Jamal Nicholas, Isaiah Layne, Priscilla Greaves, Shemar Britton, and Idi Lewis.
