Guyana score highest points at Centrobasket U-15 Championships

THE Guyana Under-15 team have completed their third and final game in the 2016 Centrobasket U-15 Championships in Puerto Rico with some positives to take away from the experience.
Despite losing to Trinidad and Tobago 107-60, the team managed to score their highest point total of the tournament. The first quarter saw Guyana with a slow start with Trinidad jumping out to an eleven-point lead going into the second quarter 17-8.
The second quarter saw much of the offensive power of Guyana with the local boys scoring their highest quarter in the tournament with 23 points. Jermaine King was a beast in the paint scoring most of his points in this quarter en route to finish with 20. Trinidad and Tobago, however, put up 30 points in the quarter to close out the half at 47-31.
Coming out of the half both teams had a dip in offensive output with Guyana putting up 13 points and T&T finishing the quarter with 17. At this point of the game, T&T led by 20 going into the fourth.
In the fourth quarter the game was blown wide open, Guyana lost some of their poise and ran out of steam with Trinidad scoring 43 points.. The 16 points of Guyana took them to their tournament-high 60 points while T&T finished on 107.
The final game saw Guyana score more than their first two-game combined 36, showing vast improvement. The offensive pattern of Guyana was seen in flashes owing to the fact that the team had settled and had experience under their belt.
The Championships finish on Sunday and Guyana will return home with hard-learnt experience.
