GT Beer Futsal Tournament … Wins for North Ruimveldt, Showstoppers and Albouystown

TWENTY-eight goals were scored on Thursday night as the GT Beer Futsal Tournament continued its preliminary stages at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall. North Ruimveldt and Showstoppers cruised to victories over Beterverwagting (BV) and Broad Street while Albouystown squeezed past Alexander Village and West Front Road-Gold is Money played to a goal strewn draw against Sophia.
In the opening match BV drew first blood through Delroy Dean in the third minute then he found the back of the net in the 12th minute. Prior to his second goal Orin Massiah scored for North Ruimveldt in the eighth minute as the half ended 2-1.
Joshua Browne equalised for the eventual victors in the first minute of the second half before a goal each from Gerald Gittens (19th) and Linris Carrington (21st) gave them the advantage. Dean scored again to complete his hat-trick but it was all in vain following Gittens’ second goal in the 27th minute which further ensured the 5-3 victory.
Showstoppers flattened Broad Street 5-2 in the match that followed. Anthony Sancho led with a double as he scored in the 10th and 21st minutes while a goal each from Dexroy Adams (8th), Marvin Josiah (11th) and Damian Williams (19th) was enough to overshadow the double scored by Broad Street’s Leon Richardson.
In the penultimate match of the night, Roy Cassou gained the advantage for Albouystown in their 2-1 win over Alexander Village. He returned to score the decider with a minute left in the game after the opposition equalised late in the second half through a Delon Williams strike.
The feature match of the night could have gone either way but the spoils had to be shared in the end, as West Front Road-Gold is Money drew 5-5 with Sophia.
West Front Road was led by a hat-trick performance from Michael Oie (2nd, 7th & 26th) and he was supported by Randolph Wagner and Michael Pedro who scored in the tenth and 23rd minutes, respectively.
Sophia countered with a brace from Shem Arthur (4th & 6th) along with a successful strike each from Omallo Williams and Sheik Kamal.
