GSSF to host Steel Challenge match tomorrow

THE Guyana Sport Shooting Federation (GSSF) will be hosting the Boodram’s Bakery and Why Pay More Trading-sponsored Steel Challenge Tier 1 Shooting Match tomorrow at the Guyana Defence Force’s Timehri Range.According to a release, the GSSF SC Match Committee reported that everything is all set for tomorrow’s match which promises to be an exciting one with shooters competing in two Steel Challenge Shooting Association (SCSA) divisions: Wildcat and Limited.

The top three overall finishers in each division and the top three in each stage per division will be rewarded for their efforts.
Match Director, Capt. Roul Bhudu noted that “Steel Challenge is the perfect way to introduce new shooters to sport shooting because of the easy-to-understand rules and scoring, coupled with the satisfaction gained from the instant audible feedback that is the “ring/ping” heard when the bullet hits the steel. This, he said, proves to be very encouraging.
The GSSF, an affiliate of the SCSA, continues to promote this simple, yet action-packed shooting sport to local pistol shooters by organising such matches on a regular basis, the release stated.
Steel Challenge is considered to be the fastest practical shooting competition in the world and tomorrow’s competition will consist of two different stages where competitors will shoot at five individual steel targets per stage.
One of the targets is designated as a “stop plate” which when hit stops the time: this plate should be shot last.
Speaking at a simple ceremony on Wednesday evening at the Georgetown Club, president of the GSSF, Vidushi Persaud, conveyed thanks to Managing Director Eric Doobay of Why Pay More Trading and Managing Director Raymond Islam of Boodram’s Bakery.
