Griffith urges Smart and Campbelle to build on their experience

CHAIRMAN of the senior selection panel of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB), Rayon Griffith, has urged the two Guyanese players Tremayne Smartt and Shemaine Campbelle, who were part of the West Indies Women’s ICC World T20 champions to build on their historic experience at the just concluded tournament.The Caribbean Women won the prestigious tournament when they beat Australia last Sunday in India.
Griffith, along with GCB Assistant Administrator, Melinda Bishundyal-Chaitram, welcomed the two ladies home yesterday at the Ogle International Airport. He stated that the GCB is proud of both players, adding that their names are a part of history as the first Women’s West Indies team to achieve this glorious title. He said this exposure could surely assist them to enhance their cricket.
Griffith said that the GCB plans to honour the Women players in recognition of their efforts.
The Board hopes that this accomplishment by the regional women would motivate young girls to pursue a career in sport which is becoming more accommodating for females.
