Pepsi Hornets hunting second win against Police Falcons today

ACTION in the Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU)/GTT-sponsored Division One 15s League will continue this weekend at the National Park Rugby Field. Today, Pepsi Hornets would be looking to continue their winning trend when they take on the Guyana Police Force (GPF) Falcons at 16:00hrs.
Hornets are expected to field an unchanged squad against the Falcons, who are still young in the game, but would be pressing hard to win their first game in the league and shake off the opening day’s humiliation they suffered at the hands of the University of Guyana (UG) Wolves.
According to coach Troy Yhap of the Police Falcons, the team would be coming with extra firepower and will not be going down without a fight.
When the league got started last weekend Hornets pulled off a major upset; coming from behind to defeat one of the top clubs, Yamaha Caribs, in the second quarter of the game 38-20 to announce their intention that they are going to be a force in the league.
Meanwhile tomorrow the action is expected to be more intense when two of the most experienced teams, UG Wolves and Yamaha Caribs, clash.
The University students, fresh from their trouncing of Police Falcons (64-5), would be looking to inflict the same on Caribs, but, led by National coach Theodore Henry, the Ming’s Products and Services-sponsored club would try their utmost to turn things on the ‘Wolves’ as they are hungry to register their first points on the table.
The Wolves coach Larry Adonis stated that he expects Caribs to come strong at them but his players are up to the challenge.
According to a release from the GRFU, the GTT 15s League would be used as a benchmark for the selection of players to the National squad for international engagements later in the year. (Rawle Toney)
