Goolsarran resigns ‘Transparency Institute’ post

FORMER Auditor-General (AG), Dr. Anand Goolsarran has resigned as President of Transparency Institute Guyana Inc. (TIGI), citing as his reason other commitments abroad.

The disclosure was made via a statement from TIGI.
According to the missive, Goolsarran, a former Vice-President of the body, is expected to resume his active involvement with the body on his return to Guyana.
Meanwhile, Mr. George Fraser is expected to act as Head of the local body until TIGI’s next Annual General Meeting (AGM) in 2015.
“He (Mr. Fraser) is enthusiastic about TIGI’s work, as a part of a global network that challenges corruption from international and local sources. His first-hand experience of Hong Kong’s success in fighting corruption, and China’s recently intensified efforts to halt this scourge has resulted in strong a conviction that similar successes can be achieved in Guyana,” the statement said.
