GFSCA ‘Guyana Softball Cup 111’ Trophy Stall and Wolf Warriors to meet in Open final today

…Industry Super Kings and NY Better Hope vie for Master’s crown
THE FINALISTS of both categories -Open and Master’s- in this year’s Guyana Floodlight Softball Cricket Association (GFSCA) ‘Guyana Softball Cup 111’ were known yesterday, when the semi-final round which saw more riveting exhibitions of cricket by the teams, was contested at the Police Sports Club ground. In the Open category, Wolf Warriors will oppose their nemesis on local soil, Trophy Stall , for the $800,000 first placed prize and trophy, while New York, Better Hope and Industry Super Kings will clash in the Master’s final.
In the semis, Trophy Stall beat Corriverton by 37-runs, after they batted first and posted 197 for 9, with Fazal Rafiek 58 and Surujpaul Deosarran made 29 against the bowling of A. Barnett who took 2 for 29 for Corriverton, who were bowled out for 162, with K. Ross topscoring with 50 while there were two wickets each for Rafiek, S Ramnauth and M Dutchin.
Wolf Warriors then met and defeated Regal XI by five wickets in the second semifinal, after seeing their opponents scoring 187 for 8, of which Richard Latiff made 41 and Ricardo Adams 40, to which they replied with 192 for 5, thanks to S. Karim 48 and Amit Rai 40.
In the New York Better Hope versus Wellman XI semifinal clash in the Master’s category, NY Better Hope batted first and scored 164 for 3, to which Wellman XI were limited to 154 for 7 in reply.
Industry Super Kings then defeated Ontario Softball League by eight wickets, replying with 102 for 2 from 12 overs after bowling out Ontario Softball League for 101 in 14.5 overs.
Today’s final is set to bowl off at 10:00hrs and an admission of $500 will be charged, as spectators will be treated to a female 10/10 exhibition contest featuring the defending champions Trophy Stall Angels, who will be competing against 4R Lioness, Karibee Rice Girls and Wellwoman.
