FOURTEEN coaches who have been attending the one-week ‘D’ Licence Certification programme being conducted by the Guyana Football Federation’s (GFF) Technical Development Officer Lyndon France, will be finally assessed when the clinic ends today at the Bayrock Community Centre.France was identified by the GFF after an approach was made by the Upper Demerara Football Association (UDFA), seeking to enhance the technical knowledge of its coaches as part of the development programme.
To this end, France has been conducting this clinic and among the areas covered were: what to do with the athletic abilities of players at the various ages and stages; how to understand the long-term athletic development of players and how to use the small-sided games to transform players’ understanding of playing on attack and defence.
Speaking at the one-week clinic which began on Monday, France said that the coaches are to successfully complete the five days of training and the oral and theoretical aspects before they are eligible for classification.
