GCB plans a Grand Dinner to honour Kallicharran … 2nd edition of ‘The Guyana Cricketer’ to be launched

THE MEMBERS and Executive of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) have planned a grand dinner to be held next Wednesday at the Savannah Suite, Guyana Pegasus, starting at 18:00hrs, to honour former Guyana and West Indies batting legend Alvin Kallicharran. Kallicharran has been invited to Guyana by the GCB for a month to impart his vast knowledge and expertise to our youths across the country and it is the first time in his career that he has been invited back to his homeland to do something meaningful for cricket in the region, for which he is very happy and excited.

So far, there has been positive feedback on his coaching sessions with the youngsters and he has been conducting technical and theoretical sessions with the youths at various grounds.
Also, he has been observing and providing guidance to the players who recently competed in the GCB/Raj Singh Insurance Brokers Under-19 three-day Inter-county competition, and is currently doing the same in the ongoing limited overs version of the same tournament, with the final set for tomorrow at Everest.
Kallicharran, who was prominently featured in the second edition of ‘The Guyana Cricketer’ magazine in an exclusive interview with the editor of the magazine, will be the feature speaker at the dinner, where he will hold a short session after and also autograph the magazine.
Meanwhile, the GCB will launch the second edition of ‘The Guyana Cricketer’ magazine at the dinner after successfully launching the first last year to coincide with their 70th Anniversary celebrations. The said Magazine has turned out to be one of the GCB’s major successes.
This year’s edition is anticipated to be an even bigger success, as its contents include articles on past and present cricketers, competitions fixtures and cricket reports among other edifying information.
