THE Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) yesterday became the latest entity to support the 25th Kashif and Shanghai football tournament, when a representative handed a cheque of an undisclosed sum along with Gatorade sports drink. At a simple but yet significant handing-over, held in the Boardroom of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF), the company’s representative and Marketing Assistant Larry Wills who made the contribution said that support of the tournament is something DDL is pleased about and as such, this year, it was simply a continuation of an alliance between the two.

“On behalf of DDL, Pepsi and Gatorade, we’re happy to be part of the 25th Kashif and Shanghai Tournament. We’ve been with them for a number of years and we want to continue the support,” Wills said, further adding “We will be supplying Gatorade and water all throughout the tournament so that the players can be kept energised and rehydrated so that their performance can be kept at an optimum level,”.
Graced by the presence of assistant general secretary of the GFF, Deirdre Davis, and other officials of the game’s local governing body, Kashif Mohammad and Aubrey ‘Shanghai’ Major both thanked DDL for what they deemed a timely contribution to their tournament.
The 25th edition of the Kashif and Shanghai tournament will kick off on March 20 at the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) ground and conclude on April 5 at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence.
