The Guyana Chronicle was informed that the former policeman, who was wanted for the murder of Agricola youth Shaquille Grant in 2012, and his accomplice entered the store at approximately 18.30 hours with their faces covered and proceeded to assault the proprietress, 52- year-old Latchmie Baburan and her daughter Anupya Baburan. They demanded money.
The woman then handed over the money which was in the cashier’s cage and when the men demanded more money and the keys to the safe, the woman refused and she again received a trashing from the taller of the two men who was identified as Warren Blue.
Blue then reportedly began beating the woman in her head this time and the other bandit then grabbed Anupya Baburan and began beating her as he threatened to shoot her to the head. Her mother the decided to open the safe. But when she did so there was no money there and this further enraged the robbers.
They then decided to leave and the younger accomplice cautioned blue that “we got to roll boy”. However as Blue was exiting the building he fired shots to scare off persons who had gathered outside the building; and the police, who were patrolling the area, responded and there was an exchange of gunfire. Blue was fatally shot by the ranks on the patrol vehicle.
During that confusion the other bandit ran back inside the building and concealed himself among some water bottles.
Later the police confronted him and he fired at them . They returned fir and he was shot dead.

Last evening the police, in a press release, said that the bandits robbed the duo of $140.000 but the attempts to flee the scene was thwarted by the response of the public spirited citizens and the police. There were also reports that MMC security personnel also responded to the report of robbery.
The police said that they were able to recover two unlicensed .32 Taurus pistols with five live rounds and a number of spent shells.
