FIVE–YEAR–OLD Rewel Roberts of Good Hope Village, Essequibo Coast, who was battling for his life at the Georgetown Public Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit following an accident involving his grandfather and an allegedly speeding car on the village public road on Sunday at about 10: hrs, succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday.
The Chronicle understands that little Rewel and his grandfather were riding their bicycle on the Good Hope public road when they stopped for a speeding car to pass, because there was an excavator on the road obstructing traffic on half of the road. Although they were allegedly in the corner of the road, the car
struck Rewel and pitched him in the air. He toppled several times before falling on the road.
The same car that struck Rewel took him to the Suddie Hospital, where he received treatment; but being in critical condition, he was transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he remained, receiving medical treatment before succumbing to his injuries.
