THE Region 2 administration will be holding its annual Essequibo Night Exhibition and Fair on October 30th and 31st at the Anna Regina Community Centre ground.A release from the administrative office at Anna Regina has said that the two-night activity, usually held under the theme ‘Made in Guyana, Grown in Guyana,’ is expected to showcase the country’s locally grown produce and manufactured products, especially from the Pomeroon/Supenaam region.

At a first planning meeting on Monday, Region 2 Chairman Mr Devanand Ramdatt said the activity will give businesses, manufacturers and farmers an opportunity to showcase their products and produce. He said Essequibo Night, which has become very popular, will also provide entertainment and a grand cultural show for the thousands who will attend.

The chairman said several committees have been formed to look at safety and security, public relations and marketing, booths and the exhibition site and sanitation and health.

The Essequibo Night Exhibition and Fair was first started by the late Minister of Agriculture Mr Satyadeo Sawh several years ago, and was also held under the theme, ‘Made in Guyana, Grown in Guyana.’ Over the years, the activity has grown tremendously and Essequibians and overseas-based Guyanese generally always look forward to Essequibo Night entertainment each year.

The activity also promotes and opens new markets for local products and crops grown. At last year’s activity, more than 100 booths were constructed and occupied by farmers, businesses, manufacturers, agencies and government ministries to showcase their products and produce on the ground.
