East Bank Demerara serial robber ‘Satan’ arrested

POLICE yesterday picked up six men for questioning in a number of robberies that were committed in and around Georgetown.Among the six is a man who goes by the alias “Satan” and according to police sources, he has been wreaking havoc in several East Bank Demerara communities on persons and businesses.

“Satan” is believed to have committed a total of seven robberies on the East Bank Demerara alone, with his last known robbery being on Christmas Eve, 2014.
This newspaper has been informed that the victims of all the “Satan” robberies can identify him and beginning tomorrow, they will be called in by the police to assist in an identification parade.
This publication understands also investigators have been able to retrieve a voice message from the phone of “Satan” to another person where they were reportedly planning the robbery of a group of non-nationals along Regent Street in Georgetown.
Acting on information yesterday, the police were able to arrest the men who are assisting in ongoing investigations.
Unconfirmed reports have suggested some persons who police are also seeking to detain for questioning in relation to their ties with the six men have been able to escape the dragnet.
The police over the last few months have been basing their investigative work on the gathering of intelligence and the method has been very effective.
