E-Networks joins forces with BCB

CABLE Television provider E-Networks is the latest corporate sponsor to come on board with the highly anticipated Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) Fundraiser “CARICOM Championship 2015”. The tournament will now be played on Emancipation Day (Saturday, August 1, 2015) at the Albion Sports Complex. The proceeds from this event will be used mainly to organise a three-day first division cricket competition for teams in Berbice.
At the presentation ceremony held recently, Berbice manager Janet Seepersaud said that her company is delighted to be part of this tournament. She expressed confidence in the way BCB did business over the years and willingly provided sponsorship for this event.
Receiving the cheque on behalf of the BCB was Representative Mahendra Ramdihall, who thanked E-Networks for its timely and generous contribution towards this tournament. He added that the company always supports the BCB and other charities.
The CARICOM Championship will see eight top first-division teams in Berbice take part in a ten-over knockout competition with the final of 20 overs to be played under lights for a top prize of $80 000 and a trophy. The runners-up will receive $40 000 and a trophy, with the losing finalists collecting $15 000. Man-of-the-match in every game will be rewarded.
The teams will don coloured clothing and white balls will be used. Action begins at 10:00hrs. Top Berbice cricketers will be on show.
Young Warriors/Rose Hall CC/Edinburgh Combined will tackle Upper Corentyne/Skeldon Combined in the opener. Game two will see Albion CC take on Bermine/Police Combined. Game 3 pits Port Mourant versus Bush Lot/D’Edward Combined. In Game 4 Blairmont/West Berbice Combined tackle Rose Hall Town. The preliminary games will be played in a festival format to create non-stop action.
The winners of Game 1 and 2 will play in the first semifinal and the winners of Game 3 and 4 will play in the other.
