THE People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C), last Tuesday evening, continued in earnest with its 2015 Elections Campaign, this time heading to Ancient County of Berbice outlining its vision for Guyana as proposed in its Manifesto, ‘Guyana 2.0’.Supporters making up part of the Berbice electorate were told that at this juncture in the nation’s history, “We cannot do a U-turn.”

This was the message brought by prominent local businessman and political activist, Dr. Peter Ramsaroop, who was among those to take the podium on Tuesday evening.

Following his endorsement of the PPP/C, it was unveiled last week on ‘Nomination Day’ that Dr. Ramsaroop is also on the party’s list of candidates for a possible elected seat in the 11th Parliament.

Dr. Ramsaroop used the opportunity at the podiums, both at Ankerville and Albion, to expand on the PPP/C’s ‘Guyana Vision 2.0’, even as he espoused on the foundation and accomplishments in the economy today, “including the investments in sugar, infrastructure and foreign investments.”
He said that without a stable economy complemented with stable growth over the past decade, “Vision 2. 0 would not have been possible.”
According to Dr. Ramsaroop, “a growth agenda depends on a solid foundation.”
He told Berbicians that “we can now seriously consider the Deep Water Harbour and the Road to Brazil as key components in Transport Economics, and this is testament to the foundation laid by the incumbent administration.”
Dr. Ramsarrop pointed out that the realisation of these projects will inherently lead to the creation of jobs in logistics, transportation, ancillary services and maritime management.

He said too, that the infusion of Industrial Technology Parks, to include Call Centres around the nation will radically create jobs numbering in the thousands.
Dr. Ramsaroop, who had also endorsed the PPP/C ahead of the 2011 elections, told Berbicians, “we will grow more sugar, 400,000 tons by 2020.”
He noted that in the area of renewable energy, a re-elected PPP/C Administration will create an Ethanol Factory among other initiatives.
While in the Ancient County, he also outlined these points during a formal televised presentation, which he said are initiatives that will transform Berbice even further.
Dr. Ramsaroop also spoke to developments in other areas such as in the rice industry and emphasised that the PPP/C not only calls for, but plans to establish a special ‘Rice Support Fund.’
This brand new facility, he explained, will begin the process of ensuring that all payments are made within 42 days of selling paddy, as well as support the creation of Value Added Manufacturing industries such as Cereal, and using husks for Energy Solution.
He told Berbicians they “cannot go back to an era of old style politics” as this will stifle Guyana’s economy.

Alluding to the PPP/C’s Vision 2.0 as “an exciting plan”, Dr. Ramsarrop said “it’s a vision outlined by the President to continue to build a modern and secure society.”

He also called on all citizens to join in the endeavour and not to be fooled by baseless promises by the political Opposition that “will see the economy spin out of control if they only implement what they are saying.”
