Double-header starts Royals 8-team knockout championship tonight

HOSTS Victory Valley Royals are down to face lowly rated Block 22 Flames this evening when action in their 20th Anniversary Open Knockout basketball championship bounces off with a double-header at the Mackenzie Sports Club hard court. 

The first game at 19.00hrs will see third-ranked Victory Valley Royals, led by shooting forward Chris Williams, along with Orlando Glasgow, Harold Adams and Marlon Pollydore take on Block 22 Flames who will be looking to Keith Williams and Patrick Clarke to lead them to an upset win.
Game two gets under way at 21:00hrs and will pit another top-ranked team in the second-seeded Amelia’s Ward Jets, who will be without the services of national centre Shane Webster, but will have his elder brother Alister, back court players Neil Simon and Rodwell Pellew, against Bankers Trust Falcons, who will be led by shooting forward Thornton Wilson.
Tomorrow night, top-ranked Kings will take on Blueberry Hill in the first game at 19:00hrs while the second will see fourth seed Retrieve Raiders against Half Mile Bulls.
The tournament, which has a first place prize of $70 000 for the victors and $30 000 for the runners-up, will be played on a knock-out basis and the winners will advance to the semifinals set for next Friday at the same venue.
