Dependable Spares supports DCC for fifth year

YESTERDAY morning and for the fifth successive year, Dependable Spares and King Paul of Eccles, East Bank Demerara, joined forces with the Queenstown-based Demerara Cricket Club (DCC).

As a result, the corporate entity made a donation of an undisclosed sum to the club which is presently leading the points standing in Zone B of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/Carib Beer first division T20 tournament. The representatives have also agreed to have their business logo fitted on to the club’s recently purchased uniforms.
In accepting the cheque, DCC president Alfred Mentore said he was happy to have the sponsor on board once again, noting that sponsorship is hard to come by, hence the club and himself are grateful for the entity’s unwavering support.
“From the first time when we approached Dependable Spares and sought their assistance with sponsorship for our uniforms – which will be used by the first division team – five years ago, they have responded positively to us.
“Today, we are happy to have them on board with us once again, to whom I must say thanks on behalf of the club and myself, since gestures like these are always worthy to be acknowledged and appreciated,” said Mentore.
He informed his audience which also included the club’s three players on this year’s NAGICO Super50 team – skipper Christopher Barnwell, Paul Wintz and Trevon Griffith – that the club which is known as the ‘Home of the Legends’, produced players for every national team that left these shores last year.
“At the Under-15 and 17 levels, we had 5 players each while for the Under-19 there were two and for the seniors, we had four players, with our very own Barnwell being drafted by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for the Indian Premier League.
“This was all made possible because of the support from sponsors such as Dependable Spares and King Paul and today I wish to say that while they are giving us a substantial amount of cash, part of it will be used towards other projects at the club,” stated Mentore.
Prior to handing over one of the uniforms to Barnwell and later the cheque to Mentore, Manager of Dependable Spares Raymond Baksh said the donation to the club was in appreciation of their returns, as they wore the brand of his company with pride.
He congratulated the club on its success over the years, while he urged the trio selected for national duties to go forward and continue being good ambassadors not only for DCC, but Guyana and Dependable Spares as well.
