WHILE launching the Demerara Bank Limited Visa Credit Card for their 20th anniversary celebration on Wednesday night at the Pegasus, Jerrett Morgan, Investment Supervisor, said the Signature Credit Card is the first of its kind to be launched here and it is a high-end card with a concierge service and an exclusive website which caters for all the travelling and other needs of customers.

He added that the Classic Credit Card (CCC) is being offered in Guyana, so it’s not a new card on the local market, however, at Demerara Bank, better services on which the bank prides itself will be offered.

Morgan stated that the CCC is offered across the local market, while the Signature Credit Card (SCC) was launched on Wednesday; the latter offers newer services for affluent travellers, business people and others, who would like that unparalleled service.

He pointed out that the SCC is a local and international high-end card, which is new to Guyana. There is prestige that comes with it and the benefits are good for travellers, since it will assist them in recovering lost baggage, etc.; it will also be valuable for enabling access to money for emergencies, such as in the case of a lost wallet.

Morgan told reporters that if one wants to be pampered, then the Signature Credit Card is ideal.
The investment supervisor explained that the SCC has more exclusive benefits with a website for customers; and it is mind-boggling for some, since it offers concierge services for overseas travel such as hotel bookings, medical emergencies and stranded customers. The card caters for all those scenarios and more.

Morgan added that the SCC will impact the local economy, but needs more promotion and will see Guyana moving more to the use of plastic because it is safer.

He explained that credit cards are safer to walk with than cash and there are easy monthly payments, since it is a revolving facility at Demerara Bank.

Morgan said with the credit card you can pay back; however, there is a minimum, you can pay whatever you spend on a monthly basis because you will incur charges and have to repay, but there is a grace period.

He noted that with the credit card there is no interest added to your account and he recommends the use of plastic and posited that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
Morgan said credit cards can be utilised for making payments to employees and point of sale transactions and urged people to move away from having too much cash on their person.

Demerara Bank launched its most widely used payment card around the world, that is, the Visa Credit Signature card on Wednesday night at Pegasus, Kingston, Georgetown.

The credit cards can be used at any merchant, bank or ATM, locally or internationally, wherever a visa logo is displayed.

The visa signature card is the first of its kind with its exclusive customer service, added protection and prestige to match one’s lifestyle.

Visa Classic
The Visa Classic offers 24/7 support and covers Visa travel accident insurance, travel assistance whenever you use your credit card to travel abroad.

Visa Signature
The Visa Signature is a high-end credit card that offers higher protection for a distinct lifestyle.

With the Classic Credit Card its limit is $100,000 to $1M while with the Signature Credit Card it is $2M and above.
