DDL, Unions sign new salary agreement

Three unions representing workers at Demerara Distillers Limited has signed a new agreement with the company. The Guyana Agriculture Workers Union, the Clerical and Commercial Workers Union and the Guyana Labour Union Tuesday signed the agreement, which will last for five year, and now moves the salary of the lowest paid worker from $49, 000 to $60, 000.
The agreement also spells out improved benefits for workers, including travel allowances, annual increases to their salaries and the granting of necessary equipment relative to their department of work.
